Oregano

Essential in Italian cooking, Oregano is another name for Wild Marjoram. It has a stronger aroma than Sweet Marjoram, and this aroma varies according to the soil in which the plants are grown. Originally from the Mediterranean area, Oregano is a must to add to pizzas and to the sauce for spaghetti bolognese. The bush-like plants grow to about 1/3 metre high: bees are always attracted to its thyme-like scent, and it is useful in the garden for this reason. Grow some near to runner beans and fruit trees to ensure fertilization of the flowers.
