Bay Leaves

An evergreen tree with glossy leaves, the Bay, or Sweet Laurel, can be an attraction in any garden, both for its looks and for the use of its leaves. Although it is not always kept in garden centres, it is well worth trying to obtain a small tree. The Bay is a native of the Mediterranean area and can grow up to 9 metres in height. It can, however, easily be pruned back to reasonable proportions for a small garden or even for a tub on the terrace or patio.
